Why your WhatsApp message was not delivered
A message showing one tick, or failing outright, has a small number of causes. Most are fixable, and one of them is a warning about your account you should not ignore.

Reading the status
One tick means accepted by WhatsApp but not yet on the recipient's device, usually because their phone is off or offline. Two ticks means delivered. A failure is different and carries a reason code.
The common causes
Most delivery failures on a business account fall into a handful of buckets, and the reason code tells you which.
- The number is not on WhatsApp at all
- The recipient has blocked your business
- You are outside the 24-hour window and sent a non-template message
- The template was not approved, or the placeholder count does not match
- Your messaging tier for the day is exhausted
The one worth worrying about
A rising rate of blocks is not a delivery problem, it is a targeting problem showing up as one. It will take your quality rating down and then your messaging tier with it.
If failures cluster on a particular campaign or segment, the list is the cause, not the infrastructure.
Retrying failed messages does not help and can make things worse. Diagnose the reason code first.
