How to collect customer reviews on WhatsApp
WhatsApp is the highest-response channel most Indian businesses have for collecting reviews and testimonials, and the most under-used. The message is already in the place the customer talks to you, so the ask does not feel like homework.

Why WhatsApp beats email for this
Email review requests compete with everything else in an inbox and are usually opened, if at all, hours later. A WhatsApp message arrives where the customer already replies to friends.
The bigger advantage is that a reply is one tap. Asking for a rating out of five inside a thread the customer is already in removes almost all the friction that kills email response rates.
Ask for a number, then the words
Open with a single-digit ask. "How was your visit, 1 to 5?" gets answered because it costs nothing. Once someone has replied, they are far more willing to explain why.
Branch on the answer. A four or five is the moment to ask for a public review with a direct link. A one or two should open a conversation, not a review request.
- Same day for a service, a few days after delivery for a product
- One follow-up if there is no reply, never two
- Send the public review link only to people who rated you well
- Route low scores to a person immediately
Sending a Google review link to someone who just rated you two out of five is how businesses collect one-star reviews they asked for.

Turning replies into publishable testimonials
A WhatsApp reply is not a testimonial until you have permission. Ask explicitly, and ask for how they want to be credited: full name, first name only, or business name.
Publish the words as written. Lightly edited customer language reads as real; polished marketing language reads as invented, and readers are good at telling the difference.
Doing it at volume
The bottleneck is not sending, it is handling what comes back. A hundred requests produce a hundred replies, some of which are complaints that need a person the same day.
An AI agent can send the request, read the rating, thank the happy ones with a review link, and escalate the unhappy ones with the full context attached.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need permission to publish a WhatsApp review?
Yes. Ask explicitly and confirm how they want to be credited. A screenshot published without consent is a genuine problem, not a grey area.
How soon should I ask?
Same day for a service while the experience is fresh, and a few days after delivery for a product so they have actually used it.
Can I offer a discount for a review?
You can, but it biases what you learn, and most public review platforms prohibit incentivised reviews in their terms.
